Evangelism Is A Four Letter Word ..... LOVE! Many people think of evangelism as a four letter word. And, actually, it is a four letter word....that word is L-O-V-E! It's about God's love for us and our love for Him...it's about showing and sharing this awesome love with others. Here at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, we believe there are many ways in which we can effectively spread the "Good News of Jesus Christ". As you can tell by the activities described below, your Evangelism Committee is excited about reaching out and connecting with those who want and need Jesus Christ in their lives.and having fun while we're doing it! And we are seeking those who share this calling and are willing to use their spiritual gifts with us in new and exciting and greater ways. 1 Corinthians 12:31 says, "But strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way!" Call us the Evangelism Committee, the "E Team", "Good New Messengers", "Connectional Ministry" or whatever, but just call us. We would love for you to join us. If you think this is an area of the church where you believe you can make an impact, please call the church office at 281-360-5555 or contact Art Tanamachi (atanamachi@kingwoodcable.com), Sandra Smith (svs926@hotmail.com) or Hoon Kim (hoongrace@aol.com). We meet every 3rd Monday at 7:30 pm in the 2nd floor of the Christian Education wing.
Alpha A practical introduction to Christianity. We gather to eat a meal, listen to a speaker and discuss that week's topic in small groups. This program has proven to be an excellent tool in helping people understand the basics of the Christian faith. New Christians as well as lifelong church goers have commented that the course has allowed them to grow in their faith and in their personal relationship with Christ. In early 2008, FPCK is again participating with 5 other churches in the Kingwood/Atascocita/Humble area in sponsoring a community-wide Alpha program. An additional course is planned for FPCK later in2008. For more information go to http://www.alphacourse.org/
"Connections" (formerly Inquirer's Class) "Connections" is a new Sunday afternoon seminar for people who are considering membership at First Presbyterian. The class will give those who come the opportunity to learn about who Presbyterians are and why they believe as well as some specifics about this church. "Connections" is also for people who may have recently joined First Presbyterian and who are looking for an orientation to their new church home. Dr. Jim Davis will lead the class and is hoping to meet many new and prospective members. We'll begin with lunch together at 12:30 P.M. and continue after lunch until 4:30 P.M. If you would like to come to "Connections", contact Sandra Smith in the church office or at ssmith@fpck.org. Our next classes are scheduled for April 13 and June 8 and are typically planned every other month.

Houston Presbyterian Cursillo - It's three days but it lasts a lifetime! Millions of Christians of various denominations have participated in a "Cursillo," a weekend experience that inspires the joyful and enthusiastic living out of the Christian faith. "Cursillo" (pronounced Kur-see'-yo) means a short course in living the Christian faith and is designed to provide a framework for the development of Christians in the local church and in the world. Presbyterian Cursillo weekends are sponsored and led by lay men and women, with the participation and spiritual guidance of ordained Presbyterian ministers. Participants return from Cursillo energized and inspired to transform their environments for Christ. [Click here to see what FPCK members who have attended say about Cursillo.]
Lake Houston Presbyterian New Church Development Our vision is to ENCOURAGE and SUPPORT the successful start-up of a new PCUSA church in the Lake Houston area (Fall Creek, Summerwood) within 2 years. This area south of Kingwood is booming and expected to continue growing rapidly over the next 10 years. With so many new families moving into the area and so few churches, we believe that this provides a wonderful and needed opportunity to spread God's word. Click here for more information about this exciting new outreach. To visit our new website, go to http://www.lakehoustonpres.org/.
Men's Fraternity Men's Fraternity is a series of three one-year-long studies, beginning with "The Quest for Authentic Manhood" and followed by "Winning at Work and at Home" and "The Great Adventure". More than just a rally or a Bible study, Men's Fraternity provides men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live lives of authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God. Feedback from our program has been outstanding. Mens' lives have been impacted in a very positive way; it has provided an opportunity for men to relate to other men in a supportive and confirming manner in an environment where they are free to talk openly and confidentially and express mutual support for one another. "Signs of Life" Outdoor Contemporary Outreach Services Our vision is to reach across denominations and generations with the "Good News of Jesus Christ" and we are using contemporary Christian music and message in an outdoor setting to reach outside the walls of our church and into the surrounding communities. The venue for this service has been at Town Center Park in Kingwood; however, we hope to spread out to surrounding areas like Fall Creek/Summerwood, Atascocita and Humble.
Sunday Visitation Team The Sunday visitation team began a few years ago with a couple/individual calling on first time visitors to the church. The visitation team delivers a coffee mug filled with brochures about the church and a Starbucks' gift card to the family who has visited. A schedule is made so that the team members know which Sunday of the month they will be visiting. Currently there are eight teams that rotate these duties, delivering mugs, extending friendly welcomes and answering any questions. The visits are brief and welcoming and made at the family's front door. Contact Sandra Smith at the church office or e-mail her at either ssmith@fpck.org or svs926@hotmail if you feel a calling for this outreach ministry.
TV Ministry Can't make a Sunday service? We're on television daily on SuddenLink Communications cable TV Channel 23. The broadcast is shown four times everyday at 9:30 A.M., 4:00 P.M., 8:30 P.M., and 10:30 P.M. The show is accessible to approximately 14,000 households in the Kingwood area. The TV Ministry also supplies a video of the complete service to the church office weekly for archival purposes and for distribution to people who purchase a copy.
